Registered Nurse

Job summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for all clinical and nursing tasks required by the residents and guests. This will include overseeing the work of the carers and ensuring that good standards of clinical care are maintained. As Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of the residents and guests, planning their care, implementing the interventions and evaluating its effectiveness.

Principle duties & responsibilities

As Registered Nurse, you will be required to carry out the following:

  • Promote effective and evidence-based nursing care that ensures that each resident or guest has an individualised and person-centred plan which is realistic and positive
  • Clinical leadership to care assistants working in their allocated areas
  • Attend to the clinical needs of all the residents/guests, including medication, care of wounds, catheter and bowel care and any other care that may be required
  • Ensure that all care is provided in accordance with best practice as indicated by The Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Ensure that all care plans are maintained and stored confidentially as well as ensuring they are current, relevant and regularly reviewed
  • Work as a member of the interdisciplinary team and ensure that information is shared accurately and appropriately both verbally and in written form
  • Promote the work of the centre and develop its role in the community
  • Work with the Senior Nursing Team to implement a new philosophy of care at Castel Froma/Helen Ley with focuses on holistic evidence-based provision of care

Key performance requirements

As Registered Nurse, it will be essential for you to: 

  • Work within a team and to support care assistants, colleagues and students
  • Work with the Management to provide a programme of care for staff
  • Prioritise workload and meet requirements for written reports for meetings and reviews and care plans
  • Work within an evidence-based framework which encourages and promotes the use of research and innovation

Personal attributes & skills

As a Registered Nurse, you should:

  • Be a qualified Registered Nurse with a current valid NMC PIN number
  • Have experience in the areas of general nursing, mental health or learning disabilities nursing
  • Have a positive attitude and enthusiasm towards residents/guests and the wider work of the centre
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the care of disabled adults
  • Work as part of a team and establish good working relationships
  • Act as an effective role model to carers and nurses
  • Be enthusiastic, motivated, flexible and adaptable
  • Be IT proficient
  • Have good health and a good attendance record
